This painting was inspired by a drawing by Gustav Klimt. It reminded me of my Father's Sister, Rose, as a young woman. Rose had a gaze that seemed to encompass more than the present moment. Her eyes had seen the joys and the sorrows of a life fully lived. Her life included the birth of her daughter and 4 grandchildren as well as the tragic death of her Mother's sister in the Triangle Factory Fire, two World Wars, and the Depression. I last visited with Rose about a week prior to her passing which she insisted was about to occur, as she gave gifts and remembrances to those she loved.
