My friend Emma wanted me to make a soul portrait of her. At the time, she was obsessed with tango. I felt the pinnacle of her soul's expression and passion was when she was immersed in the sensual experience with a man she loved. Making this painting helped me understand the kind of pure presence and flow she must experience while ballroom dancing. The mingling of their vibrant colors suggests a subtle merging of their energies and a feeling of oneness; it feels as though her very particles are dancing with her partner. After creating this, I realized so much of Emma's wisdom is in her silence, and in the way she moves through space with smoldering grace.
