It was the first time we had seen each other in nearly a year; a change of pace since becoming fast friends during my dayshift at Pop’s Bar in 2018.
Over the many hours we’ve sat across from each other, this reunion was markedly different. The tectonic plates of 2020 have shifted, and with that brought new challenges that tested how unshakable our spirits could really be. With gaze cast downward between her shoes, as if tilling soil for the abundance that would later grow, the last moments of golden hour rolled lovingly in her direction. As she looked up from what felt like a trance finalized, analog shutter curtains closed on an old chapter with a photograph as proof of the unstoppable.
