Al and Priss, the couple, came into my clay studio, to inquire about caricature cups to purchase. I looked at them standing next to the kiln, and it occurred to me that they might as well have their OWN cups, their own caricatures. They were surprised and delighted. (Al loved his so, that he uses his for his breakfast cereal every morning.)
Making the decision about which "personality lines" of their faces I would include was a great study in and of itself, but then, as time passed after the cups were delivered , and I shared dinners and art talk with them, I grew to love watching their faces change as they spoke and animated their stories.
