I decided to do a portrait foremost of my grandmother Guadalupe but also my mother Claudia and myself. This picture helps me understand who/where I come from as a Mexican American but also where I want to go pictorially. Identity is complicated in this modern age, so I want the paintings design to reflect that feeling of multiple influences and stimuli at the same time. I like to think of the picture like it's a computer screen with too many browsers open making it hard to balance your attention between it all. In the top left of the painting, I wrote a phrase and words I deeply considered while making the piece ' Greener Pastures, Metamorphopsia, and Acculturation'.
