I took this photo of my son on a family trip to Joshua Tree. He was a pre-teen/teen then, and I was watching him blossom into his own person. Which of course, means pulling away from his parents. In the past, he was always a willing subject for my photography. Not so much now. At the time, I felt lucky that he let me get this close to achieve the shot. I see the boy he is leaving behind and the man he is becoming.
